Lori Parsons brings more than 20 years professional experience in the field of Child and Youth Counselling.
Lori holds a diploma in the Child and Youth Care Program from George Brown College as well as a degree in Social Development Studies from the University of Waterloo. She is a registered member of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Workers and has extensive certification in other areas including Suicide Prevention and Solution Focused Counselling.
Lori has worked for several local Mental Health agencies in the region as well as within both School Boards for over 20 years. Her background consists of dealing with issues such as; substance abuse, anxiety and stress related issues among children and teens, self-harm, abuse, goal setting, school and family related stressors as well as all other areas of social, emotional and physical care and growth.
Lori prides herself in following the professional competencies under the guidelines of her profession including promoting the well being of children and youth and their families in a respectful, non-judgmental manner. She values individualism and the need for people to express themselves in their own unique way. Lori acts as an advocate and support for the rights and beliefs of those she works with. She trusts in the importance of celebrating individual strengths and promotes healthy relationships within families and the community. She puts value in supporting emotional and social growth and working toward future goals and achievements.
Lori Parsons has lived in the Kitchener Waterloo Region her entire life and is extremely familiar with the resources and supports offered in the community. She is a mother of a teenage daughter and knows first hand the challenges our children and youth encounter on a daily basis.
